The 2000 Hess Fire truck represented the first tractor-trailer fire truck. Previous Hess Fire Trucks were all one unit. In addition to removable side ladders the truck had a rugged 3-part telescoping aerial ladder that also rotated completely around. The trucks siren, horn, and emergency flashing lights were all synchronized and the truck had working headlights and taillights. Other unique features included the chrome accents on the bumpers and running board, as well as chrome stabilizing bars at the front of the trailer. Other details included hoses molded on top of the trailer, door handles on the equipment bays, and smaller access ladders. Hess manufactured 1,600,000 of these toys for the 2000 holiday season.
